Jhansi
Jhansi is a historic city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It lies in the region of Bundelkhand on the banks of the Pahuj River, in the extreme south of Uttar Pradesh. Jhansi is the historical town of North India which is quintessentially associated with Rani Lakshmi Bai who fought battles against the British and helped restore the kingdom for a brief period of time. The town of Jhansi speaks myriad of such tales which is the reason why it is a haven history lovers. Jhansi known as the Gateway of Bundelkhand as the region is associated with rich culture, heritage and tradition. Jhansi fort, around which most of the historical points are located, continue to be the hub of activities even till today. Jhansi Fort
Built in 1613 by Maharaja Bir Singh Deo this fort speaks tales of the violent killings that took place with in the fort and the moat. The site map placed outside the fort outline the point of interest within the fort. The Cannons Kadak Bijli and Bhavani Shankar are displayed here in the fort. Panch Mahal, where the Rani spend her days with her husband Raja Gangadhar Rao, the Hanging Tower, where the British executed the prisoners are some of the points of interest. The fort house two temple Ganesh Temple and Shiv Temple, where the Rani offered her prayers regularly.
Rani Mahal
Rani Mahal was one of the chief residences of the queen that has many small rooms, chief among them being Durbar Hall, decorated with brilliant colors of varied art forms. In the place of the Queen’s Palace, stands the present day Museum having a collection of artifacts and objects of the past. Rani Lakshmi Bai as well as the archaeological remains of the 9th to 12th century.
Government Museum
Government Museum is enriching from the archaeological and historical point of view as they have an exhaustive collection of sculptures, paintings, coins, etc reflecting various facets of history. Rare collection of objects dating back to the 11th Century, to the time of Bundelas are displayed here. The museum is surrounded by various parks like Rani Lakshmi Bai, Deen Dayal Sabhaghar etc.
St. Jude’s Shrine
St. Judes’ Shrine is located in Jhansi in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The Roman Catholic Latin Rite shrine is devoted to St. Jude Thaddaeus and is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jhansi.
Barua Sagar Dam
Barua Sagar Tal is a large lake situated in Barua Sagar near Jhansi in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The dam is located 24 km from Jhansi on the way of Khajuraho in a idyllic location surrounded by greenery all around. Located at a higher altitude makes it all the more beautiful. This dam was also a war site in the battle that was fought between the Marathas and Bundelas in 1744.
Parichha Dam
At a distance of 27 km from Jhansi Junction, Parichha Dam is a manmade reservoir situated near Parichha town on Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway in Uttar Pradesh. Built on Betwa River, Parichha Dam & Reservoir is one of the top places to experience Jhansi Tourism. Parichha Dam was constructed during the time of the British between 1881 to 1886 CE. The reservoir of the dam stretches from Parichha to Notghat Bridge which is about 34 km from Jhansi.
This place is ideal for water sports especially boating and fishing activities. It also offers great scenic view of the surroundings.

jahangir mahal
Jahangir Mahal, Citadel of Jahangir, Orchha Palace, Mahal-e-Jahangir Orchha, Jahangir Citadel; the Jahangir Mahal is a citadel and garrison located in Orchha, in the Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. The establishment of the jahangir Mahal dates back to the 17th century A.D. when the ruler of the region Vir Singh Deo built the structure as a symbol of warm reception of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, during the latter’s first visit to the city. The entrance of the Jehangir Mahal, Orchha is marked by an artistic and traditional gateway. The front wall of the structure faces to the east and is covered with turquoise tiles. Jahangir Mahal is a three storied structure that is marked by stylishly hanging balconies, porches, and apartments.
The domes of the Jahangir Mahal, were built according to Timurid customs; its grand Iwans are large enough to accommodate the entry of war elephants, and its high position over the landscape allowed cannons superior range.
Ram Raja Temple
The Ram Raja Temple is a temple in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage and receives devotees in large numbers regularly and is also commonly known as Orchha Temple. In India this is the only temple where Lord Ram is worshiped as a king and that too in a palace. A Guard of Honour is held everyday, police personnel have been designated as Guards at the temple, much in the manner of a king. The food and other amenities provided to the deity at the temple are a royal repast. Armed salutation is provided to Lord Ram every day.
Chaturbhuj Temple
Chaturbhuj Temple, dedicated to Vishnu, is situated at Orchha in Madhya Pradesh, India. The name Chaturbhuj is where ‘chatur’ meaning “four” and ‘bhuj’ meaning “arms” which literally translates to “one who has four arms” and refers to Rama an avatar of Vishnu. The temple has a complex multi-storied structural view which is a blend of temple, fort and palace architectural features.
The temple was originally built to deify an image of Rama, as the chief deity, which however was installed in the Rama Raja Temple inside the Orchha Fort complex. At present an image of Radha Krishna is worshiped in the temple.
Chhatris Cenotaphs
These are 14 cenotaphs (or Chhatris) in Orchha are tombs, in memory of the Bundela kings and the members of their dynasty. They are located near Kanchan Ghat on banks of River Betwa. The cenotaphs have been bulit on the spot where royals were cremated. Some of these cenotaphs or Chattris are of Vir Singh Deo, Madhukar shah, Udait Singh, Jaswant Singh and others. Cenotaph of Vir Singh Deo is the most popular of all because of its unique architecture and beautiful design. Each Chhatri is a little different in design. The structures are triple-storied. Four chambers make up a dome shaped covering surrounded by small cenotaphs resting on columns.
Lakshmi Narayan Temple
Orchha is a historical city of Madhya Pradesh in India. Orchha was founded in the 16th century by Bundela Rajput Chief, Rudra Pratap. Laxminarayan Mandir is a one of the three famous temple of Orchha. It is counted among popular Orchha tourist attractions. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Laxmi but there is no idol of any goddess inside temple. Laxminarayan Temple in Orchha presents a unique style of architecture. This temple is a perfect blend of temple and fort architecture. The walls of this charming shrine are elaborately decorated with fabulous mural paintings, which show pulsating compositions from mythological themes. This temple also houses the very famous post mutiny paintings.
Betwa River
Orchha is a small historical town on the bank of Betwa river at a distance of 20 kms from Jhansi city. Although it is a small town but here one can find large number of historical monuments under well maintained conditions at a small area. Here we can find fort, palace, temples, cenotaphs, wildlife sanctuary with fun of river-rafting in Betwa river. Water of river is very clean and tourist does not take to bath in it, very attractive view.
